Appearance: Parodia schumanniana starts off as a globular cactus but can grow into a columnar shape as it matures. It can reach up to 1 meter (3 feet) in height in cultivation, but in its natural habitat, it may grow even taller.
Ribs: The cactus has numerous, well-defined vertical ribs (about 15 to 20), with areoles (small raised spots) from which spines emerge.
Spines: It is covered in a dense array of sharp, yellowish to brown spines. These spines can range from 2 to 3 cm (about 1 inch) in length.
Flowers: One of the highlights of Parodia schumanniana is its large, bright yellow, funnel-shaped flowers. These blooms are typically 5–7 cm (2–3 inches) wide and appear during the summer months. The flowers form near the top of the cactus and are particularly eye-catching.

Parodia schumanniana prefers well-drained, sandy or loamy soils. A cactus potting mix with added sand or grit works well for cultivation.
Parodia schumanniana is not frost-hardy and should be protected from temperatures below 5 degree (41 degree F). It prefers warm temperatures in the range of 15-30 degree (59-86 degree F), making it well-suited for indoor cultivation in cooler climates.
